over there empty. Come back filled with contraband
of amendments. Two million enlisted potato peelers
were exported there in 1918. We are just starting to
get paid back in opera singers. American lumber
goes to Europe. But no New Jersey forest fires are
ever blamed on Swedish matches. Why don't they
send us something good sometimes?"
TO MOVE IN PORTLAND.
The McDougall-Conn Music Company, Portland,
Oregon, have disposed of their lease at 129 Tenth
street, and will move to a more central location on
April 1. They are having a clean up sale and are
closing out their Columbia phonograph and record
departments. Mr. McDougall reports a big volume
of business not only in the phonograph and record
departments, but in the small goods and sheet music
departments as well.
A CANDY PHONOGRAPH,
The steamship Pittsburg, which sailed from New
York December 19, was not without its Christmas
joy. Sidney Beetson, the ship's baker, surprised the
passengers with a piece of candy which he fashioned
into a likeness of the grand organ in St. George's
Cathedral at Liverpool, England. With a phono-
graph inside, it played organ music.
ARTISTIC MUSIC ROLL LIST.
The Wiley B. Allen Compaq, Portland, Oregon,
issued a very attractive Christmas list devoted to rec-
ords and rolls. It was a most artistic presentation of
Christmas offerings and was designed by Martia
Babb of the player roll department.
