DEATH OF JAMES PETTIGREW.
James Pettigrew, factory superintendent of the
Wilson Bros. Mfg. Co., Chicago, died suddenly last
week at his home in Oak Park, 111. Mr. Pettigrew
had superintended the factory of the Wilson Bros.
Mfg. Co. during the past twenty-five years and had
seen the company rise from a small manufacturing
establishment to a drum house of national reputation.
He was an authority on the construction of drums.
The interment took place in Pittsburgh, Pa., his
former home.

EXTENDS PHONOGRAPH BUSINESS.
The talking machine department of the F. E. Har-
man Furniture Co., Lima, O., has been enlarged and
the business of the department extended. Charles
H. Rowlands, Columbus, O., and Alfred R. Row-
lands, Mansfield, O., recently purchased the business
and the building at Market and Elizabeth streets for
a price somewhere about $350,000. The Victor and
Edison lines of talking machines are carried.

EXTENDING THE LINE.
The musical merchandise business of the Albert
Fink Music Co., Kenton, O., has been extended to
include a large variety of imported goods. The
house has built up a very satisfactory business in
orchestra and band instruments of American manu-
facture. The firm has devised a scheme of advertis-
ing to make known its new departure to the pros-
pective buyers in its territory.
WOOL SMUGGLING.
Wool has been added to the commodities of con-
traband traffic along the border. The capture of two
Bangor (Me.) men, and the seizure of two truck loads
of wool, alleged to have been smuggled into
Aroostook County, Maine, from New Brunswick to
avoid the new tariff duty, was announced at the cus-
tom house last week.
