PACKING FOR EXPORT.
The shortcomings of American packing of export
shipments, in comparison with the correct packing
of the German shipments, have been a favorite theme
of the American consuls for many years. Scarcely a
week passes when the Bureau of Foreign and Domes-
tic Commerce does not receive some complaint on
this subject from at least one consular officer in some
part of the world. The recurrence of the accusations
against American packing caused the bureau to issue
two monographs on the subject of packing for ex-
port.
