Did You Ever Act on Im'pulse?
A very prominent dealer called at our office recently, and in the course of conversation said:
"I have been watching your advertising for the past three or four months, expecting every
new ad to contain an invitation to dealers to write for descriptive literature, style book, agency,
prices, or for at least something, and as you have not done that yet I made up my mind that
you cannot be advertising just for the sake of spending money, so I came to the conclusion that
your company must really have something, and that you are not letting everybody in on it—
not just yet. Well, yours truly will not be a "trailer" if a little push and "grit" will make him
leader, so I packed my grip, jumped aboard a train, and here I am."
To make the story short, we will simply state that what this dealer did is but a repetition of what many
others have done before him and since; in fact, they are coming to us most every day. The dealer who
looks for opportunities is the sort we want and the ones we are signing up with. The dealer who has the
sand, or backbone, to spend his own money and find out what's in a proposition, is generally well on his
way with it, if it's any good, before the other fellow gets started.
