^^Magnificent Triumph with the
AM
'Ji^emarkable Concert with the
DETROIT SYMPHONY
ORCHESTRA
In a dazzling performance of Saint-Saens' G Minor Concerto in which portions of the work
were played by the living Levitzki and portions by the Ampico from records of Levitzki's
playing. It was impossible to tell when Levitzki was playing with his own hands and when
he was playing by means of the Ampico.
This concert was arranged and carried out under the dual auspices of Messrs. Goold Bros,
and the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company, local agents for the Ampico.
Unanimous Praise of the Critics
•BUFFALO EVENING TIMES:
BUFFALO EXPRESS:
BUFFALO EVENING NEWS:
" T h e Ampico Reproduces the artist's playing
with astonishing fidelity. The diabolical clever-
ness with which that instrument took up its cue
and continued the Concerto when the pianist
withdrew his hands elicited gasps of amazed
wonder from the audience."
" It was fascinating to compare the human artist
and his artistic alter ego, so like unto him and
so uncannily human. Mr. Levitzki was recalled
several times with tumultuous applause intended
in equal shares for himself, the Ampico, Mr.
Gabrilowitsch and the orchestra."
"Ordinary reproducing instruments would have
declined such close comparison, but the Ampico
entered merrily into the field and more than held
its own throughout the evening. The manner
in which his style was duplicated by the Ampico
was fascinating.
This season has been notable for the frequent appearance of the Ampico jointly with
the great pianists in recital and in concerts with the great orchestras, in all of which the
supremacy of the Ampico has been incontrovertibly demonstrated.
