IS FRIEND RESPONSIBLE
FOR PIANO TUNER'S BILL?
Complication of Piano Owner Who Bought at Pri-
vate Sale Made Straightt.
A correspondent writes in the Chicago Tribune
as follows:
A has a piano and sells it to B, but before the deal
goes through A has the piano sent to B's home and
has it also tuned by a piano company which A said
he would pay.
The piano company couldn't collect the bill from
A since 1916, three years, so they are sending the
bill to B.
1. Can B refuse to pay it?
2. Can they hold B liable for the work which A
ordered to do?
3. Can B stop them from sending bills?
To all of which the newspaper's legal department
replies:
1. Yes, unless he agreed to pay. 2. No. 3. No.

It was because calendars are scarce this season
that Presto made a feature of one last week. And
now comes one that is really a work of art. It is
the Haddorff Piano Co. souvenir. The Haddorff
calendar is just the right size, and it is beautiful
enough for any home. It is a reproduction, in col-
ors, of an oil painting entitled "This Beautiful World
of Ours," by Frederick Duncan—modern and rare
in its effects. The two girls are beauties and the
scene, of which they are the center, is equally fine.
The Haddorff Piano Co., of Rockford, 111., has sent
out the prettiest souvenir of the season.
