FIRE RUIN OFFENDS.
Tired of waiting for the Pianophone Company,
Ottawa, 111., to remove the ruins of its factory on
Jolict street, which was destroyed by fire two years
ago, the City Council now proposes to pass an ordi-
nance by which ruins left for a certain length of
time following a fire shall be declared a nuisance.
This action was decided upon at the meeting of the
City Commissioners last week, and a motion was
adopted that the city attorney draw up such an
ordinance to bep resented at a council session in
the near future. Requests and demands galore have
been sent to the officials of the Pianophone Com-
pany in an effort to have the unsightly wreckage
removed, but so far no move has been made to clean
up the property.
