One of the most recognizable game characters in the
world has turned 26. Sonic the Hedgehog’s official birthday
was June 23 and Sega celebrated with an addition to its pop-
ular line of Sonic-themed arcade games, the Sonic Baby Air
Hockey table. The brand new air hockey game is specially
designed for children.
“Our Sonic-branded games have been growing steadily
while demand has also continued to rise,” said Justin Burke,
general manager at Sega. “We now ship more Sonic-brand-
ed games than ever before, due to great value, quality, and
income potential of these games.
“The current TV series and a multitude of consumer
games on various platforms are helping players engage with
this great license through various touch points. By launching
Sonic Baby Air Hockey, we wanted to extend that experience
to kids too.”
The Sonic Baby Air Hockey table has a narrow play-
field and lowered height so that kids can enjoy the classic
arcade game. It also features LED scoring, a timer, and Son-
ic-themed audio effects.
The Sonic Baby Air Hockey table joins Sega’s other newer
Sonic-themed games, Sonic Dash Extreme and Sonic Blast
Ball, as well as the classic four-player air hockey table Sonic
All-stars. The Sonic All-stars game has been recently revital-
ized with the latest imagery from the Sonic design team in
Japan. For more information, visit (www.segaarcade.us.com).
