The Valley National 8-Ball League Association held its 37th annual World Pool Championships
at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev., May 25-June 3, while its 27th annual Junior Cham-
pionships took place June 15-18 at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, Pa.
Almost 5,000 pool league players from 30 states, six Canadian provinces, and seven other
countries competed for top prizes at the World Pool Championships. Players represented 130
VNEA charter holder members. Pool tricksters and professional players Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman,
Jerry Briesath, and Dave “Ginger Wizard” Pearson also made appearances.
The event hosted matches on 250 Valley-Dynamo pool tables in 56 unique competitive divi-
sions including seven team divisions, the 6th annual World Team Championship, and the Artistic
Pool Competition.
Tournament sponsors included Valley-Dynamo, Ozone Billiards, Fury, GW Cues, Aramith, and
AMI Entertainment.
New VNEA Hall of Fame members include Janet Anseeuw of C&N Sales, Tammie George of
Wyoming Amusement, Chris Glass of Superior Vending, David Smith of Derrick Music, and Steve
Sones of Melodee Music.
The Junior Championships hosted 220 junior pool league players from seven U.S. states, as
well as Canada and New Zealand. Matches were played on 80 Valley-Dynamo pool tables in 18
unique competitive divisions including the 4th annual Top Cat Challenge and the Artistic Pool
Competition.
Top players took home Ozone Billiards gift cards, two-piece cues, and individual trophies. For
