LETTERS Why there? As I sit here stranded in Las Vegas due to the snow storm in Reno , I can't help but wonder why the powers that be of both the AMOA and ACME have not figured out what a great many trade associations have already figured out : stop moving the shows around the country! When the show is held in Las Vegas the operator turnout is always great . And isn't at least the AMOA show for the operators , if not the ACME show? Las Vegas is probably one of the only cities that can accommodate a show the size of the Con sumer Electronics Show, or the even bigger Comdex, and not even miss a beat. If the powers that be would bother to ask , I'm sure that they would find out a great many horror stories about not only the recent fiasco trying to get to Reno , but also the "wonderful " bug-in- fested rooms in San Antonio and the exorbitant prices in Chicago and Anaheim. While Orlando , Fla., may be a good choice and d raw a lot of operators with their families, most of us can't take a week off. We can't take the kids out of school, which will mean a three- or fourday trip with only one or two of them at the show. Come on guys and gals , wake up and ask the operator where he wants to go to see the latest and greatest that the industry has to offer. And ask the exhibitors-not the manufacturers that rely on the distributors that will attend, even ifthe show was held in my hometown of Buffalo , N.Y.,-but the suppliers what show they write the most business at. Marc S . Whitelaw Action Vide o a nd Ve nding Buffalo, N.Y. Didn't get the joke I am writing to take great exception to what Frank Seninsky described to me as an attempt at humor on his part in his com- ment about our late st pinball machine , Baywatch (Play Meter, May 1995l. It took m e some time to reflect before understanding that Frank's comment was not a reference to the earning powe r of Baywatch, but was a refere nce to real women's legs . Certainly Baywatch , reporte d to be the most popular television show in the world, is a long-lasting title that leads to a ga m e containing beautiful women, but Frank 's humor was too obscure for me . We take very seriously our vocation, the d e sign, and manufacture of pinball machines for operator use and e arnings . If criticized, I would acce pt a criticism that we have too little humor on the subject. Readers may conside r this self-serving, but I must state that Baywatch is a very good game , with a great title , working we ll in the field, and has many gre at pairs oflegs (and othe r anatomical parts!) . .&.
