This time it jumped from $81 to a whopping $128. What a difference 10 years can make ; pinball had its lowest average weekly gross reported at $38 in 1983. Jukeboxes If anyone has any doubt that PLAY METER the days of the 45 rpm jukeboxes are numbered, consider this: the average weekly gross on 45 jukeboxes continues to plummetfrom $63 last year to $44 this time as CD jukeboxes rise-up to $174 from $138 the previous year. Close to 90% operate jukeboxes and report that nearly 60 % of the jukeboxes on their routes are CD units. Last year just 42 % said they felt 45 rpm records would be obsolete soon , while this time 12 over 60 % admitted that they felt 45s would be obsolete within the next two years. It ' s comforting to note that nearly 90 % of all jukebox operators have licensed their jukeboxes, although only 43 % think that enforcement of unlicensed boxes has been adequate .
