November dubbed ''Jukebox Month '' AMOA's Jukebox Promotion Committee , in conjunction wi th RCA and Polygram Reco rds, is kicki ng-off a November ''Jukebox Celebration '' for the nation ' sjukebox operators . They will be provided with two National Jukebox Month packages in both vinyl single and CD formats. The Polygram package features seven pop classics ; RCA's package consists of seven country gems . This promotion, patterned after AMOA ' s successful "Play Your Heart Out'' Valentine ' s Day promotion in 1989 and 1990, is being coordinated through AMOA , Sterling Title Strip in Pittsburgh, and various one-stop outlets . ' 'In addition to being the first promotion of its kind ever conducted for November 'National Jukebox Month,' we ' re excited to offer operators a choice of two packages in both 45 and CD configurations ,'' said committee chairperson Tami NorbergPaulsen of C&N Sales in North Mankato, Minn. Here are the 14 two-sided records from Polygram and RCA (some B sides to be determined) : • Sh-Boom/Earth Angel (The Crewcuts) • Only You/The Great Pretender (The Platters) Nebraska makes bid for video gaming Operators Association, Dec . 15 is the target date to have a system in place. The Veterans Lottery Control Council would be the gaming regulatory agency created by the amendment. Nebraska 's population of 1.5 million would make it the most populous state to adopt video gaming. For more information on the status of video gaming around the country , refer to our new column, '' Video Gaming Outlook,'' on page 49 . Nebraska may join the ranks of states with legalized video gaming if a constitutional amendment is approved by voters on Nov . 6. Statewide polls indicate growing voter interest in the proposed change. Operators and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) started the effort over a year ago by obtaining 85 ,000 voter signatures (only 56,000are required), asking for the measure to be included on the ballot. If successful at the polls , Nebraska would pattern its rules and regulations after those of South Dakota and use a dialup, central computer system. The revenue division would be distinctly different from that in other jurisdictions. Nebraska 's proposal would give the state a flat $2 ,000 license fee per machine, with the majority of that money (about 65 percent) going to the state. The remaining amount would be divided among veterans' programs , administrative costs, and state property tax relief. Machine revenues would be divided among operators, locations , and nonprofit organization sponsors. Percentages would be negotiated among these three entities. Update on AMOA Awards Show R di son Joe Phillips, executive director of the Wisconsin Amuse· ment and Music Operators (WAMO), addresses at· tendees of the second joint conference between WAMO and the Minnesota Operators of Music and Amusements (MOMA). The two-day event, held recently in Min· netonka, Minn., consisted of meetings, seminars, and assorted social get-togethers. MOMA executive director Hy Sandler planned and organized the conference. Speaking of Atchley , he has more confirmations to report for the 1990 AMOA Expo Awards Show, to be held on Oct. 26 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans . Kenny Rogers and The Everly Brothers will receive awards for the Jukebox Legends Hall of Fame . Also , Randy Travis, nominated for the Jukebox Country Record of the Year with '' Just A Matter of Time," will perform. At press time, Atchley couldn 't confirm other acts being courted for the show. Suffice it to say , though, that nothing but firstclass entertainment will be there . Last year 's show boasted such stars as Dionne Warwick, Frankie Valli , Buck Owens, Ben E. King , Conway Twitty , and The Righteous Brothers.
