Call o r u. ' LETTERS
Thanks Nintendo
"Old Hoss"
With a sigh of relief and hope for
the future, we extend a message of ap-
preciation to N intendo for giving us,
as operators, the opportunity to make
a few dollars with Super Mario 3
be fore it comes out for the home
system.
We had just about decided we were
dead in the water with Nintendo and
were ready to convert a ll of o ur
P/ayChoice 10~ to regular kits. When
we found out about the lead time on
Super Mario 3, we dec ided to give it
a try . Everywhere we ' ve put it , earn-
ings have inc reased dramatica lly.
Thanks, Nintc ndo , for honoring
your commitment to the operator.
Better late than never! Please don't
feel I ' m ungrate ful ; Ijust seem to get
swamped at times .
My eve rlas ting thanks to you,
Carol, and the rest of the staff fo r your
very fine a rticle about " Old Hoss"
[Coinman Interview, July 1988). My
kid s got a big kick o ut of your
magazine and they jo in in tha nking
you 'folks also.

I wou ld like to extend my sincere
thanks to your staff for the response to
my letter. Past experiences with many
publica tion s ha ve see n less than
sati sfactory service to the ir readers .
You , o n th e oth er hand , take a
positive approach to direct com -
munication with those in the business.
I have enc losed a photo and s hort
statement about our newest entry in-
to the ma rket, The Dragon Mas1er,
for incl usion into the New Products
section. We also ha ve three other
games in development , two of which
arc in co njun c tion wit h major
distribution companies. Our plans are
to introd uce these units before the
IAAPA s how.
The people at Percepti ve Resources
make the company work , and to
them, seeing the result s of the ir ef-
forts in print generates exc itement
a nd a se nse of accomplishment.
Thank you again fo r the coverage
provided.

Winners make players
After read ing Bonnie 's editorial in
the August 1989 issue, ''Two cranes
equal one bad impression ," I feel
compelled to write. Our industry suf-
fers from enough bad press as it is.
When an operator runs a crane in a
decepti ve manner it injures all of us.
You arc right to call attention to this
problem. Thank goodness it was you
and not a state o r local officia l who
discove red this " rip -off" c rane
location.
We at Betson constantly remind our
crane customers that winne rs make
players. Not only is it morally correct
to o pe rate fairly , it is a lso good
business. When peop le sec happy
players walk away from a crane with
a prize it is more likely to bring addi-
tional players . Givi ng a fair return to
the players insures long-term pro-
fitability in a location.
I also concur with Valerie's opinion
stated in he r ed itorial "Don 't do thi s
to me aga in! " Poorly maintained
equipment profits no one. I wish to
thank both of you ladies for your
diligence, and I hope for the day when
it won't be needed! 0
