I think it' s about time so mebody spoke up against
freedo m of religion. And I think we shou ld all be
tha nkful a com pany as big as Bally/ Midway has
undertaken this very noble project .
Now ma ybe we can show those Ru ssia ns a thing or
two about Yankee ingenuity . Why , those Commies
can't even silence a few hundred thousand Poli sh
Catholics or a like number of Russian j ews .
But a good oJ' American company like Bally/
Midway? Hell! Now those Ru ssia ns' !! see Capitalism at
wo rk, doing what they cou ldn 't ever do with th eir
Ma rxist-Communism.
You see, Midway owns the rights to Pa c-Man , that
vi deo game everyone is still talking about, and they ' ll
be damned if anybody is going to use their property
witho ut their permission!
Why, just the other day the company demanded
that a religious organization calling itself " Jews for
Jesus" stop distributing a religious tract titled "Pac -

Man Fever." In an appropriately-phras ed nasty letter,
Midway's lawman, Don ald Welsh , told the religiou s
gro up to " immediately cease any further distribution
. .. and imm edia tel y destroy or deliver to us for ·
destruction any remaining copies of the brochure ."
Midway sa id, " The Pac-Man Feve r brochure has
not been authorized by Bally/Midway Mfg. Co. and ,
in our opinion, disparages the Pa c-M an and Ms. Pac -
Man characte rs and vio lates the rights of Bally/
Midway. "

I talked to those people at Jew s for j esus, ju st to
check this thing out, and you know what they' told
me? Th ey sa id they didn ' t eve n think their religi ous
" brochure " disparaged anything! Can yo u believe
that?
