German associations agree

In-fighting betw een the various
national and international coin ma-
chine trade associations in Europe
may be coming to an end with an
agreement made in Germany during
the German coin machine exhibition
in March .
The three formerly extranged
West German operators' associ-
ations agreed to " live peacefully
side-by side" following talks . They
are Ima, the Berlin and Hessan
Operators' trade association, Z. O.A .
the other operators' assocation and
the German arcades association.
In a joint statement they said :
" No more separate approaches to
the government concerning auto-
matics legislation will be made nor
will separate approaches be made to
such bodies as the Performi n g
Rights Society. All past differences
have been forgotten."
The differences betwee n t he
associations have been t he main
stumbling block to Eu ropea n t rade
unity. Z.O.A . are members of the
V .V.A., a federation of coin mach-
ine associations within Eu rope. Ima
is aligned with Euro mat, a numer-
ically larger federation of associ-
ations . The two have been at
loggerheads for three years now,
although peaceful overtures have
been made recently .
The settling of W est German
differences could provide t he moti-
vation for a big ama lga mation .
