time , mainly in the South. I would
like to see a campaign to abolish the
name "j ukebox ".
Henry Ford objected to the name
"Tin Lizzie" as applied to the
Model "T" Ford . You would hardly
refer to the lincoln Continental as a
"Tin Lizzie" . The same applies to
the progress made in the automatic
phonograph business.

I'd like to clarify a statement
made in the August issue.
In the interview article "Tilt! The
Man Who Gave It To Us," Mr.
Williams incorrectly states on page
46 that now "there's no Mills .. . no
Jennings. "
Perhaps Mr . Williams means that
these two companies are no longer
in Chicago ... for they are very much
in existence!
The TJM Corporation acquired
the a .D . Jennings Co . in 1954,
Mills Bell ·a·Matic Co . in 1963, and
J .H . Keeney & Co. in 1964 . The
TJM Corporation, in turn , is a
subsidiary of the larger Elgin,
Illinois based holding company,
American Machine & Science Inc .
All three slot machines are now
manufactured in the TJM factory in
Reno , Nevada. Keeney is the trade
name used for console ·type ma o
chines . Mills is the name we use on
our mechanical machines .. . still
supplied for some parts of Nevada
and the world markets . And approx ·
imately six months ago we in·
troduced our new , fully electronic
(integrated circuitry) Jennings slot
machine .
For three years ... and approx ·
imately a million dollars ... we de ·
signed and field tested this new
Jennings electronic marvel. We
now have several hundred in opera ·
tion in Nevada with magnificent
user satisfaction and player appeal.
And we've just begun to promote it!
We still have some hills to climb
in selling casino mechanics on the
elctronic design .. . but our field test ·
ing has shown that servicing can be
reduced by over 50 Y.! compared to
any competitive mechanical or
Digital, Solid-state
Totalizers
... (and at a price you can afford!)
We've made our cash totalizers more
sophisticated than they probably have to
be. And we've still managed to keep the lid
on our prices. One of our two completely
new digital, solid state totalizers may be
just the piece of equipment you've been
looking for.
Yes, now International Totalizing Sys·
tems has two totalizer models to choose
from. And one of them, either the 1111
(which counts quarters onlyl or the FHDI
Iwhich counts nickels, dimes, quarters,
haH dollars or dollar bills I is perfect for
your needs.
Really. Both are universally adaptable.
We ha~en't found a machine on the market
that won't accomodate either or both of
our new models. AI equipment, regardless
of age or model, will accept our totalizers.
We've simplified the installation on our
two new models to a matter of wires. The
FT 1111 has four wires to connect; the FT !ill!
has eight. In either case the wires are
protected by a special collar shrink tubing
we've developed that protects you as well.
In field tests, we've found that both
machines count money faster than the
most optimistic operator could have ever
hoped. The FT !ill! will count up to $41 a
minute; the FT·DI, up to $20 a minute.
