Cl ifford G. Jones, of Jones Music
Co . in Long Beach , Calif ., agreed . "We
change from 15 to 18 records on our
boxes each week," Jones said, "and we
f ill in with alot of old favorites. We
keep re·circulating those old records
constantly, and it's a big help in
keeping appealing old ies at various
locations.
"The old standards are doing really
well," Jones added . "In fact, they're
doing better in some cases than the
top hit tunes coming out today ."
"Adult selections (oldies) are not in
nearly the demand as early '50's rock-
and ·roll here," said Phil Tullisano of
General Amusement Co. in Bloom-
field, Conn.
He said Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley
and other early rock artists make up
the bulk of his old ies demand .
But other operators in other areas
of the country indicated that the type
music their locations are asking for
Little LP Spotlights
The news in the jukebox l ittle LP
world is the arrival of the first ship·
ment of quadraphonic little LP selec·
tions, and selections from the first
batch represent a wide variety of
mus ical talent and in terests.
L ittle LPs Unl imited in Danbury,
Conn . said they received their first
shipment of the new quad albums late
in September. A total of 19 quad
records were available .

Of course, Glenn Miller-type big
band sound is a hot item in many
locations, especially those catering to
middle·aged customers. But one oper-
ator indicated that one of his custo-
mers has only about four big band
selections available, and his early -to
mid ·20's customers play them fre-
quently - so often , in fact, that he has
requested a few more similar selec-
tions.
Many current record chart climbers
are re·makes of tunes released years
ago, and that is true of both recent
pop and country releases.
Following is just a sampling of
1950's music which has had good play
on jukeboxes in various locat ions of
late, by year of release:
