terval apart, a number of strong beats
may be heard, as the two strings come
near into tune these beats between be-
come slower, until they finally disap-
pear, then ^C" and "G" the tone dis-
tance of a fifth become one beautiful,
clear sounding interval.
It would be profitable and time well-
spent to practice the circle of fifth until
they all sound clear as a bell.
Not to make your practice monoton-
ous and tire your ear, follow these sug-
gestions :
A. Remove continuous mute.
B. Tune unisons, i.e., the No. 1 and
No. 3 string to No. 2. or the mid-
dle string. Please bear in mind
that you are only tuning perfect
intervals. Therefore, don't try
any chords yet. Just go on with
unison practice until we move on
to tuning the strings to equal
temperament.
W. Perry Chrisler Passes Away
In SI. Louis After Long Nines
William Perry Chrisler. President of
Aeolian Company of Missouri, St.
Louis. Mo., following a lengthy illness,
died on August 12th.
Mr. Chrisler was born at Coopers-
fring established the Aeolian Company
of Missouri as an independent firm with
Mr. Chrisler as President.
He served for many years as a di-
rector of the National Association of
Music Merchants, a work in which he
had great interest. Surviving children
are Mrs. H. K. Zeuschel, Mrs. E. W.
Schisler. Miss Barbara Perry Chrisler,
William P. Chrisler Jr., and Tanner S.
Chrisler.
Funeral Services were held at the St.
Louis Cathedral. Monday August 16th
and interment was at the Holy Crown
Cemetery. Indianapolis. Ind. in the
Shiel family plot.

W. PERRY CHRISLER
town. New York. He later moved to
New York City where he attended and
graduated from St. Paul's School. Gar-
den City. L. I. in 1902. After extensive
travel abroad he joined Aeolian Com-
pany in New York and later became
manager of the Dayton. Ohio branch,
then the branch at Indianapolis, Ind.
where he married Edna Winifred Shiel.
In 1916 he went to St. Louis as manager
of the Aeolian branch here. Subse-
quently he and the late William H. Al-
