Under the heading "Piano-Organ
Salesman Eagerly Awaited in Arizona
Towns, Totes Samples in Truck" in a
recent issue of the new? section of
"Grit" the work of Laurin A. Mueller,
head of the Redewill Music Co., Phoe-
nix, Arizona was publicized as follows:
"Fun day in many Arizona small
towns is the day when Laurin A. Muel-
ler drives his big truck up the streets.
"Everyone, and particularly the chil-
dren, know it means a chance to toy
with new pianos and organ consoles,
which are arranged in an unusual
8-16-foot truck built for hauling pianos
and organs for demonstration purposes.
"Behind the piano-carrying truck is a
company that was founded in 1881 by
Augustus Redewill. who died two years
ago. Mueller, his son-in-law, is now in
charge of the company. He usually
hauls the pianos and organs into the
rugged Arizona countryside from his
store in downtown Phoenix.
Used Prairie Schooners
"The Redewill Music Company was
built up in its early years when pianos
were hauled on prairie schooners to
customers on far-away ranches. They
were tedious and dangerous trips. To-
day, the counterpart of the old covered
wagon is the unique truck which pene-
trates all of Arizona except two or
three counties.
"Before Mueller sets out on his trips
he generally has requests to appear in
various towns for demonstrations. Oth-
er times he drives his truck into iso-
lated places to show the latest model
pianos to persons who are barely able
to pick up radio signals.
"Entire towns turn out when the
Redewill truck pulls into the area.
Lerue Burd Appointed Selmer
Manager For Indiana and Illinois
Jack Feddersen, executive vice-presi-
dent of H. & A. Selmer, Inc., has an-
nounced the appointment of Lerue
Burd as territory manager for Jesse
French pianos and Selmer brand in-
struments and accessories. He will rep-
resent Selmer in Illinois and Indiana.
Mr. Burd has been with Selmer
since 1945. In that year he was em-
ployed by Selmer's Jesse French Piano
Division in New Castle, Ind., where he
was production control manager. Mr.
Burd's nine years experience at the
Jesse French piano factory has made
him particularly well qualified to serve
Selmer and Jesse French dealers in his
territory.
