Direct Columbia Purchases
Magnavox Representatives Attend
Philharmonic Concert During Meeting
James H. Hunter, Vice-President in
Charge of Manufacturing of Colum-
bia Recording Corporation, Bridge-
port, Conn, has announced the ap-
pointment of Robert P. Robinson Jr.,
as Director of Purchases of that com-
pany. In this position, Mr. Robinson
will be responsible for the purchasing
policy of the entire company which
operates factories in Bridgeport, Con-
necticut, Kings Mills, Ohio and Holly-
wood, Cal.
During the past eleven years Mr.
Robinson was the Chief Buyer for the
Remington Arms Co., of Bridgeport,
Conn, a subsidiary of the E. I. Du
Pont de Nemours Co. Previous to that
he was conneceted with the Du Pont
Co. of Wilmington, Del.
Mr. Robinson assumed his new duties
at the Bridgeport office of Columbia
Recording Corp. as of March 1st.
A three day meeting of the Mag-
navox District Sales Managers held
recently at the Magnavox plant was
htighpoiinted when the Visitors and

Farnsworth Broadcast Manager
Captain Pierre Boucheron has been
appointed general manager of the
broadcast division of the Farnsworth
Television & Radio Corporation and
placed in charge of Station WGL at
Fort Wayne, Ind., Mr. E. A. Nicholas,
Farnsworth president, has announced.
Captain Boucheron's duties will en-
tail the management of Farnsworth's
Fort Wayne AM station WGL as well
as a proposed FM station, if the li-
cense now pending is granted by the
Federal Communications Commission.
By late spring it is anticipated that
he also will operate Fort Wayne's first
television station to which the experi-.
mental call letters W9XFT already
have been assigned by the FCC.

concert, the Magnavox representatives
were photographed backstage as they
congatulated Hans Schweigher, Phil-
harmonic Conductor, for his splendid
direction of the Verdi Masterpiece.
Frank Freimann, Magnavox Execu-
tive Vice President, announced that the
sales meeting was a great success.
During the three days the District Sales
Managers spent at the Fort Wayne
classes were held in the servicing of
Magnavox equipment, and the District
Managers previewed new Magnavox
designs which will be added to the line
later in the year after full production
has been achieved.
At the present time Magnavox has
nine radio-phonograph models in pro-
duction. The company also is manufac-
turing U. S. Navy electronics equip-
ment, Illustravox sound-slide repro-
ducers, capacitors, speakers, and solen-
oids.
