PERSONALITIES
The Knabe Symmetrical Grand, Style K,
one of Henry S ami las' most recent
achievements in Knabe scale drafting.
HENRY SANDLAS
A MONGST the personalities who have
•L •*- piloted this great piano to its pres-
ent day preeminence there is none more
richly endowed than Henry Sandlas. It
was his father, Henry Sandlas, Sr., him-
self one of the Knabe industrial family,
who recommended his son for a position
in the Knabe factory. The lad was taken
on in 1886—5-4 years ago.
His progress in the delicate art of piano
making was rapid. An analytical and re-
ceptive mind directed his interests into
channels of ever widening importance,
j
ultimately establishing him as one of the
outstanding figures in the industry.
For many years he has been in com-
plete charge of the research which is con-
stantly exercised in the scientific develop-
ment of the Knabe, preserving and in-
creasing its golden voice-like tone, the
fundamental secret of which was long
ago discovered by his predecessors. Dur-
ing the years in which he has been in
charge of this intensive and important
work Henry Sandlas has designed and
drawn the scales for all Knabe grands
and verticals.
