EXECUTIVES W H O ARE N O W IN FULL
CONTROL OF JACOB BROS. BUSINESS
W
HEN announcement was made last
month to the effect that C. Albert
Jacob and his sons, C. Albert Jacob,
Jr., and Charles Hall Jacob, had taken over
the interests of Charles Jacob in Jacob
Brothers and affiliated enterprises, it didn't
cause an unusual furore for the reason that
those gentlemen who thus assume full control
of the company have held a very substantial
interest in it for many years.
As a matter of fact, C. Albert Jacob joined
the Jacob Brothers organization at the time
of its formation in 1878, while but a youth,
and has remained an active • factor in the
business since, occupying the important office
of treasurer for a large part of that time.
He had a long and thorough training in all
phases of piano manufacturing and was par-
ticularly interested in the production end of
the business. C. Albert Jacob, Jr., joined the
organization in 1911 upon completion of his
education, and was followed by his brother,
Charles Hall Jacob, who became connected
with the enterprise in 1914. Both young men
went through a vigorous period of schooling
in the piano business under the able tutelage
of their father, and have since played impor-
tant parts in the carrying on of the substan-
tial business, not specializing in any one divi-
sion, but taking a hand in all the activities.
This sharing of responsibilities as they oc-
curred has been a strong factor in giving the
younger generation a keen grasp of the busi-
ness in all its phases.
Under the new set-un C. Albert Jacob be-
comes president; C. Albert Jacob, Jr., vice-
president and treasurer, and Charles Hall
Jacob, secretary, of the Jacob Brothers Co.
C. Albert Jacob also becomes president of
the Mathushek Piano Mfg. Co., with Charles
H., vice-president; C. Albert, Jr., treasurer,
and John H. Gettell, secretary. Mr. Gettell,
by the way, has been secretary of the com-
pany for some years, having been associated
with it since 1918.
The rapid progress of the Jacob Brothers
industries, and particularly of the Mathushek
Piano Mfg. Co., during the past few years

leads to the belief that further progress may
be expected in the future, particularly as the

the unemployed. He proposes a fund to be
loaned to the poor of the city at 6 per cent
interest per annum, to be paid monthly.
Each borrower would have life insurance
covering the loan signed over to the city as
beneficiary. To give debtors an opportunity
to pay interest on the loans until conditions
are improved, the city, under Mr. Zinke's
plan, would employ each four hours a day.
