Vacation Special Ukes
Proving Very Popular
Mention has been made before of the com-
bination work of three Western instrument
makers in offering a vacation special uke at a
very low price but of good quality and of
highly attractive new designs. This was par-
ticipated in by the Globe Music Co., St. Charles,
111., the Harmony Co. and the Regal Musical
Instrument Co. of Chicago. All three are grati-
fied by the results of the plan, and although
residence in Homer City, Pa., recently. He
was twenty-eight years old and is survived by
a widow and little daughter.
Targ & Dinner Featuring
the Dobro Tenortropes
The Targ & Dinner Music Co. is now giving
special attention to the Dobro guitars and ten-
ortropes. These are made in three models
called the Regular, Professional, and the De
Luxe. The tenortropes are designed like a

the school vacations have just begun, the orders
from dealers throughout the country have
shown that the scheme "caught on."
Each manufacturer offered three styles at the
uniform retail price in different finishes, and
the Globe Music Co.'s Style 11 vacation special
uke herewith illustrated has become one of the
most popular sellers, with a likelihood that the
demand for the two other Globe models will
continue for months to come.
Nicomede Co. Introduces
"American Violin System
The Nicomede Music Co., Altoona, Pa., has
recently added to its long list of text books a
new six-volume violin course for beginners en-
titled "The American Violin System." The
author is Lloyd Loar, prominent musical au-
thority and composer who will be remembered
by Review readers for the highly interesting
series of articles on fretted instruments con-
tributed by him to this paper recently. The
new course is thorough and comprehensive and
is designed to sell at the popular price of 50c.
Mario Carcelli Dies
Mario Carcelli, a prominent accordion artist
and author of "Royal Method for Piano Accor-
dions," "The Rainbow and Victory Folios" of
solos for the accordion and other works pub-
lished by the Nicomede Music Co., died at his

tenor-banjo, with the added tone brilliancy of
a guitar, and come in three retail prices. The
company has issued a new catalog on this
Dobro amplifying guitar and lists a large num-
ber of professional players who use them.
Targ & Dinner are also introducing to the
trade a new line of Marveltone piano key ac-
cordeons in three models, listing at from $250
to $350.
Reports Banjo Theft
The Rochester Musical Instrument Co., 29
South avenue, Rochester, N. Y., reports the
theft of a Super-Paramount tenor banjo A 151
with tan sole leather carrying case, Artists Su-
preme Model. Any dealer who comes across it
is requested to advise th-e Rochester concern.
The Nat Cohan Music Co. has moved to new
quarters at 2033 Mariposa avenue, Fresno, Cal

of Value to Drummers
Ludwig & Ludwig, well-known makers of
drums, are also publishers of a number of in-
struction volumes for both professional and
amateur drummers whick are in considerable
demand. These include the Ludwig Instructor
in the Art of Snare Drumming, a well-known
edition. This has been revised, sections on the
fife and bugle added and the name has been
changed to the "Moeller Book," out of regard
for its author, S. A. Moeller. Then there are
"Fifty Hot Cymbal Breaks" and "70 Modern
Drum Beats"; "Tips from a Tapster"; "Drum
Technique in the Band"; "Ludwig Drum and
Bugle Manual"; "The Ludwig Drum Corps
Guide"; "The Drum Major's Manual"; and
"How to Twirl a Baton"; "Rhythm Band Di-
rection" and the "Ludwig Tympani Instructor."
Each one of them is useful and the instruction
is ctear, practical and modern.
Issue Striking Booklet
on Value of Drum Corps
Ludwig & Ludwig, Chicago, prominent man-
ufacturers of drums, recently issued a very
attractive booklet profusely illustrated setting
forth the value of drum corps in schools, social
organizations, American Legion and other simi-
lar bodies. The booklet is captioned "Here
They Come," and the illustrations show fifty or
more drum corps representing all sections of
the country.
Warren J. Burke has been appointed manager
of the branch store of M. Steinert & Sons in
Lowell, Mass., succeeding James R. Ryder,
resigned.
