Patrick Conway, noted bandmaster, died
recently in his home in Ithaca, N. Y., where the
funeral was held, followed by burial in Cort-
land, N. Y. Many prominent men, including
Mayor Fred B. Howe, of Ithaca, participated
in the funeral services. John Philip Sousa sent
a telegram expressing regret at the passing of
a "leader in his profession."

Sannella's Saxophone
Recitals Over the Radio
On June 18, Andy Sannella inaugurated his
series of saxophone solo recitals over station
WJZ, New York, with great success. Jack
Shilkrit appeared as accompanist.
The program included: "Sa,xannel!a," by
Andy Sannella; "Saxarella," by Rudy Wiedoeft;
Paraphrase on "The One I Love Belongs to
Somebody Else" ; "Serenade," by Mozcowski
and "Playera," Spanish Dance, by Granados.
This fine program was heard over twenty-one
stations, and met with such success that it

over WJZ and chain, but on Wednesday eve-
nings, 7.45 to 8.00 Eastern Daylight time, in-
stead of Tuesday.
Mr. Sannella has been showered with con-
gratulations upon his success, for it is unusual
for a wind instrumentalist to play five or six
solos consecutively. On the night of June 18,
Andy used his new 1929 model Selmer alto
saxophone ior the first time in solo work.
