Sixty-Year-Old Mathushek

SAN FRANCISCO, CAL., June 7.—Louis F. Goelz-
lin, Pacific Music Co., wholesale factory rep-
resentative for Mathushek pianos, is using in
sales talks the story of the first Mathushek
piano taken to San Diego around the Horn,
sixty years ago, and used continuously ever
since. The present owners, who still play it,
are nieces of Joseph Mannassc, a San Diego
pioneer. Mr. Goclzlin says that the piano is a
strong proof of the "Durability" slogan of the
Mathushek Piano Manufacturing Co.
Efforts to Crack Piano
Factory Safe Foiled
BOSTON, MASS., June 9.—Two attempts to crack
the safe in the office of the large piano plant
of Geo. Steck & Co. in Neponsit, a few nights
ago, were frustrated the first time by the fac-
tory watchman, and in the second attempt by a
motorcycle policeman who had been placed on
guard.
Death of H. F. Vorbeck
DENVER, COL., June 11.—Herman F. Vorbeck, a
retired music deafer of Grand Junction, Col.,
died at the Presbyterian Hospital here recently
of pneumonia. He was born in Germany in
1862, and came to New York with his parents
when five years old. He came to Grand Junc-
tion in 1902 after having been manager of the
National Music Co. in New York for a number
of years. He is survived by two sons.

The Page Organ Co., at present located in
Lima, O., has arranged to move its plant to
Dayton, O., in the near future. The company
specialize in large pipe organs.

The Main Music Corp., Buffalo, N. Y., has
been incorporated with a capital stock of 100
shares of no par common stock, C. A. Pearl-
man being the incorporator.
The Unique Products Corp., New York, has
been incorporated with a capital stock of $10,-
000 and will engage in the manufacture of
musical instruments.
