Mehlin pianos will be used in the chain of
theatres which are now being operated and
erected by the Jefferson Amusement Co., of
Beaumont, Texas. The first theatre which has
been opened is a new million dollar structure
recently built in Beaumont, and the accompany-
ing photograph shows the stage and orchestra
as well as one of the two Mehlin University
model grands which are used in this theatre.

The Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont is con-
sidered one of the finest moving picture houses
in that part of the country. The deal for the
Mehlin pianos was closed by Elmon Armstrong,
representing Paul G. Mehlin & Sons in the
southwestern territory.
Prominent Purchasers of
Marshall & Wendell Pianos
Among prominent purchasers of Marshall &
Wendell instruments at Chickering Hall during
the holiday season were Philip Manville, Jr.,
G. F. Abendschein, secretary of the Staib-
Abendschein Co., New York, returned last
week from a trip through the West, where he
visited many Western manufacturers and se-
cured some good orders for Staib-Abendschein
grand and upright piano actions.
To The Review Mr. Abendschein stated this
week: "This was my initial trip through the
West, and I greatly appreciated the splendid
reception I received all along the line. Great
interest is manifested in the Staib-Abendschein
actions, particularly our lost motion grand ac-
tion. Although my visit was a little early tW
some of the manufacturers who were busy tak
ing inventory, nevertheless I secured some good
orders and feel certain that others will be forth-
coming when manufacturers' requirements are
ascertained.
"Another feature of our actions,' which is ex-
clusive with us, is the dampproofing process
which renders the main centers impervious to
climatic changes.
"I found a note of optimism everywhere I
went, and manufacturers all feel that the New
Year will show better business for the piano in-
dustry.
"We arc now making several improvements
at the plant which will prove most beneficial
from a production standpoint as soon as they
arc completed."
