MILWAUKEE, Wis., July 13.—Vescy Walker is
making a splendid record throughout this sec-
tion as an organizer of bands and orchestras,
having organized hundreds of them and taught
and trained thousands of musicians. He has
been managing departments of musical mer-
chandise and selling band instruments in music
stores here and in other cities throughout the
country.

organized Walker Band and Orchestra Con-

Co., this city, has issued a large new catalog il-
lustrating and describing "Slingerland's May
Bell Banjos" as it is entitled.
High-grade stock is used throughout the cat-
alog, which has a heavy cover of imitation
leather. The complete line of Slingerland's
May Bell line of banjos is illustrated, showing
several new styles. The various styles of May
Bell ukuleles are also described as well as the
accessories for these instruments.
The May Bell line has become very popular
and provides a strong leader for musical mer-
chandise dealers everywhere as it means reputa-
tion for high value and desirable profits for the
firm which sells the line. In introducing the
catalog this is emphasized as follows:
"May Bell Banjos are now being sold by over
seventeen hundred dealers throughout the
United States, Mexico, South America, Canada,
North and South New Zealand and Australia,
manufactured in the world's largest and most
modern equipped banjo, factory. The beautiful
tone and amazing carrying power of the May.

resonator construction patented in 1921, and

ance of rigid discipline, guaranteeing successful
performance, thorough musicianship, placing
and booking of bands and orchestras, arrange-
ment of concerts and careful preparation for
the initial concert, high professional ability
coupled with concentrated thought on musical
principles, private lessons in extra sessions
when necessary, study of famous bands, com-
man, of Ravenna, Ky., has been granted a pat-
ent covering the invention of a mouthpiece for
musical instruments, such as cornets, trombones
and the like. The invention is claimed to pro-
vide the means of supplying pressure of the lips
in such a way that it can be reduced or in-
creased. The patent is No. 1,543,655 and is
dated June 23, 1925.
New Reed Holder Patent
PHILADELPHIA, PA., July 13.—James Palmer of
this city has been granted a patent for the in-
vention of a reed holder for accordions. The
invention provides a reed holder of some light
weight cast metal such as aluminum instead of
wood or other expensive parts.
