Wins Century Contest
Shalek's Brunswick Music Shop Unanimous
Choice of Judges—Other Prize-winners in
Contest
The closing weeks of the Century Music Co.'s
national window display contest brought to the
judges of the competition photographs of attrac-
tive windows from all parts of the country.
These window showings ranged from the most
attractive and expensive settings which, by their
unique ideas, brought prospective purchasers to
the showrooms, to those of more simple design

cases unusual energy in making the showing.
The first prize, without a dissenting vote, was
given by the judges to Shalek's Brunswick Music
Shop, Chicago, 111. In the center of the win-
dow was a painted silhouette of Paderewski at
the piano with high lights of amber color. On
either side of this background appeared wings
representing a stone wall giving the setting a
permanent character which added materially to
the interest created by the display. As a back-
ground to the silhouette seated at the piano
was a varicolored center panel with a temple
situated on a hill giving an idea of great dis-
tance and adding to the charm of the display.
Sunbursts on either side made of Century prints
also added to the striking effect. There were

Close of Lenten Period Finds Well-known Pub-
lisher With Catalog of Many Popular Suc-
cesses
Leo Feist, Inc., following the Lenten period,
has injected some supplementary activities to
its Spring campaign on what is termed one of
the most active catalogs this organization has
ever gathered together in any one season. The
Feist organization, through its band and or-
chestra departments and its various branch offi-
ces and representatives, is making an intensive
publicity drive on its Spring sellers. These ac-
tivities, besides the wide playing of the Feist
successes by orchestras everywhere, will include
the vocal rendition of the numbers in vaude-
ville programs supplemented by the Feist plug-
gers in other likely channels.
The outstanding numbers in the Feist catalog
include "O Katharina," "I'll See You In My
Dreams," "Honest and Truly," "No Wonder"
(That I Love You), "Will You Remember
Me," "The Midnight Waltz," "Let It Rain, Let
It Pour," "Dear One," "I Had Somebody Else
Before I Had You," "Doo Wacka Doo," "If
It Wasn"t For You I Wouldn't Re Crying
Now," "Rock-A-Bye Baby Days," "The Pal
That I Loved" and "When I Think of You."
This is indeed a thriving collection of successes
and their importance is again demonstrated by
their availability in both record and roll form.

counts of Representative Standard and Pop-
ular Houses
The Richmond Music Supply Corp. is now
issuing a dealer's trade list carrying quotations,
prices and discounts of the representative pop-
ular and standard publishing houses. This par-
ticular list is for the permanent files of the re-
tailer and is a ready reference guide for the
various prices obtained by the different pub-
lishing houses for particular types of music.
For instance, in the popular list the initial
order price and short price of popular prints
are given, the price of orchestrations and the
price quoted for show music. In the standard
list the publisher's name appears, under which
the various discounts on the particular catalogs
are shown.

The Triangle Music Co. has accepted for
publication two compositions by Robert L.
Stevens, for which Bartley Costello has con-
tributed lyrics. The first of these is "Golden
Memories" (of Hawaii), described as a Ha-
waiian waltz song, which is rapidly being re-
corded by the leading record and player-roll
manufacturers.
The other song, entitled
"You're More Than a Pal To Me," has been
added to the standard catalog of the company.
The California Ramblers, who recently
opened their own restaurant known as "The
California Ramblers' Inn," have been playing to
packed houses. Among the numbers that are
being featured by this organization nightly at
their Pelham Road house are two numbers from
the Edward B. Marks Music Co. catalog,
"Dromedary" and "Montmarte Rose."
