day by Waldc Nelson, advertising manager of
the Vega Co., manufacturer of banjos and brass
instruments, 155 Columbus avenue.
The catalog is a handsome tribute to the
Vega advertising department, for it is a beau-
tiful piece of work and one that will be an
ornament to any music dealer's desk. It has
twenty-eight profusely illustrated pages and a
heavy cover which is a work of art with a
striking color scheme.

Now Featured as Standard Equipment on Three
Well-known Makes of Instruments—Finding
Favor With the British Trade
BOSTON, MASS., March 23.—Although on the
market but a short time there has already de-
veloped a substantial demand in the trade for
the. Oettinger banjo tailpieces, according to M.
A. Oettinger, general manager of the Oettinger
Products Co., who reports that the device is
now standard equipment on three of the best
known makes of banjos in the world as well
as used by many other concerns. There has
also been a good volume of orders from music
dealers for the Oettinger tailpieces for retail
sales across the counters, Mr. Oettinger re-
ports.
An interesting story illustrating the way the
fame of the product has spread to England is
told by Mr. Oettinger. Recently the Vega Co.
of Boston shipped a Vega banjo equipped with
an Oettinger tailpiece to its London represen-
tative. Immediately after the arrival of the
instrument a cablegram was received by Bert
Eandel, sales manager of the Vega concern, re-
questing shipment of a dozen of the "unique"
tailpieces. Since that time a steady trade has
developed among British banjoists for the tail-
piece and only the other day Mr. Oettinger re-
oeived an order for six five string banjo tail
pieces from the British house.
The Eastern Kentucky Music Co., of Pike-
ville, Ky., has recently moved to the J. J.
Moore Building, at the corner of Caroline and
Second streets.

Sales Manager of Harry Pedler & Co. to Cover
Large Section of the Country—New Pedler
Catalog Soon Ready for Distribution
ELKHAKT, IND., March 23.—Harry Pedler, Jr.,
sales manager of Harry Pedler & Co., manu-
facturers of the Pedler line of woodwind instru-
ments, started to-day on a two months' business
trip. Mr. Pedler will visit the trade in many
States in the South, Southwest and Western
territory.
Before leaving the factory Mr. Pedler com-
pleted the compilation of the new Pedler cata-
log containing a complete listing of the Ped-
ler line and this interesting document is ex-
pected to arrive from the printers shortly and
will be distributed to the trade. It will con-
tain much valuable information for dealers in-
terested in the woodwind department of orches-
tral instruments.
Mr. Pedler reports that his recently com-
pleted arrangement with Carl Fischer, Inc., of
New York and Boston, giving the latter house
the Pedler agency in New York City and the
New England States, is working out well for
both concerns. Already a great deal of new
business has been developed and the Pedler
line is rapidly growing in popularity in the
East as well as in other sections of the coun-
try.
Forty-Year-Old Gemunder
Violin Still in Service
A Geniunder violin, made forty years ago
and still going strong, is the report recently
received by August Gemunder & Sons, the fa
mous old New York violin house. August Ge-
niunder, head of the house, received a letter
last week from F. Sharp, a well-known profes-
sional violinist, who wrote that he came imn
possession of the instrument four years ago
and has been playing it constantly ever since.
"The instrument—made in 1885," he writes,
"is in perfect condition and the varnish, which
is a deep rich yellow, has a luster equal to any
I have ever seen. The tone is very smooth for
a violin of its comparative youth. I am the
director of a civic orchestra of eighty players
and with this Gemunder violin I am easily able
to control and swav them."
