continental Popularity
message that appeals to all ages. It is setting
a pace as a love song that will be hard to
follow.
Thompson-Archer Number Among the Biggest
Sellers in Every Section of the Entire Coun-
try at Present
Weidemeyer's Band Popular
. No song in recent months has had more pub-
lic renditions in instrumental form than the
Marian Thompson and the Harry Archer num-
ber "I Love You," the big success from the
musical show "Little Jessie James," and the fea-
ture in instrumental form of Paul Whiteman's
Orchestra in this season's Ziegfeld "Follies."
The number is played by orchestras every-
where; the radio was quick to take, hold of it
and its country-wide popularity has been based
mostly on the instrumental rendition, although,
of course, it has appeared on practically all
talking machine records in song form. If "I
Love You" was an ordinary song such a wealth
of public performance might have overdone its
popularity. Such has not proved to be the case,
however, for, of course, "I Love You" is the
unusual.
After all the public renditions in instrumental
form have spent themselves "I Love You" will
