Composer Wins Prize
PORTLAND, ORK., January 12.—E. O. Spitzner,
Portland violinist, composer and teacher of
music, received word from Chicago that one
of his compositions had won third prize in a
nation-wide contest conducted by the Chicago
Daily News. His number, entitled "Prairie
Lament," was written for full orchestra and was
submitted by Mr. Spitzner on short notice. Mr.
Spitzner is a charter member of the Oregon
Composers' Society. He has lived in Portland
for twenty years.
