Sherman-Clay Numbers
Charles R. Warfel, manager of the trade de-
partment of Hinds, Hayden & Eldredge, Inc.,
recently left on a five weeks' trade trip, cover-
ing Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Pitts-
burgh, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul,
Minneapolis, Kansas City and St. Louis. Sev-

PORTLAND, ORE., January 5.—The Sherman-Clay
number, "Cover Me With Kisses," is having a
big sale at the local Sherman-Clay house and
it is anticipating a heavier demand for this pop-
ular fox-trot. The local dealers were highly
delighted to receive the beautiful and tuneful
arpeggio waltz, "The Bird's Frolic," published
by the same company. "The Bird's Frolic" is
the production of Mario Fortana, the well-
known composer of teaching pieces.
Arthur Lange, one of the best-known musical
arrangers in the country, who for many years
was exclusively a member of the staff of Water-
son, Berlin & Snyder,
and who in recent
years has been re-
sponsible for the
attractive arrange-
ments appearing in
both the Lincoln
and Cameo records,
has always been in-
terested in the or-
chestra and orchestra
works. Several able

operated under his
direction.

and to bring a modern attraction in the form of
"an orchestra rendering symphonic syncopation"
was quite a departure. This again demonstrates
the hold of present-day orchestras.
The Strand playhouse found the appearance
of this combination so popular that it was held
over for a second week, breaking all records
for attractions at that house. Among the songs
rendered at its recent appearance none appeared
more prominently than the Sherman, Clay num-
ber "Sleep."
Robert Crawford in West
Robert Crawford,, sales manager of Irving
Berlin, Inc., is visiting the branch offices of his
company in Middle West territory. In addi-
tion, he will call upon music buyers in the
larger centers, including Detroit and Chicago.
Mr. Crawford, while away, will feature the out-
standing song successes from the "Topsy and
Eva" show, including "Reincmb'ring" and "I
Never Had a Mammv."
"Sittin' in a Corner" Sales
"Sittin' in a Co.ncr," from the catalog of
living Berlin, Inc., is having as large a sale as
"That Old Gang of Mine," from the same cata-
log. This is substantial proof of the popularity
of this issue, inasmuch as that "Old Gang of
Mine" has been one of the leading sales factors
on the music counters of the country.
The Sensational Over-night Song Hit
"He Calls Me Honey
in the Morning"
A little love number that's creating
a great sensation with college and high
school students.
