THE TALKING MACHINE TRADE
G. B. Gilbert to Join
Forces With Victor Go.
Resigns as Member of Koerber-Brenner Organ-
ization in St. Louis to Join Victor Staff
ST. LOUIS, MO., June 21.—C. B. Gilbert, member
of the Koerber-Brenner forces here for over
six years, has severed his connection with this
firm and will begin new duties July 1 for the
Victor Talking Machine Co. Mr. Gilbert had
his first connection with Victor work ten years
ago as a traveling representative of the Victor
Co. His travels carried him throughout the
Middle West, where he came in contact with
dealers whom he was later to serve as a job-
ber's representative. Locating in St. Louis, he
continued to travel for a time, but for several
years has served the city accounts in St. Louis.
He has made hosts of friends wherever he
went and is one of the most universally liked
men in the business. The best wishes of the
entire territory go with him in his new work.
Together with Mrs. Gilbert and their son,
Ralph, he will leave soon for Atlantic City for
a vacation before entering on his new work.

S. Ernest Philpitt & Sons Awarded Third Prize
for Handsomely Designed Floral Float En-
tered in Recent Orlando Parade
ORLANDO, FLA., June 21.—S. Ernest Philpitt &
Sons, music dealers of this city, were awarded
third prize in the business and institution classi-
fication for an elaborate float entered by that
company in the Orlando Natural Floral Parade
held here recently and in which the Victor trade-
mark predominated.
On the float the Victor trade-mark was dupli-
cated, using the thirty-six-inch papier-mache dog
and building a dummy talking machine to cor-
respond with the size of the dog. The entire
trade-mark was covered with white carnations.
For the markings and the inside of the horn
crimson carnations were used. Around the en-
tire running gear, suspended from the body of
the truck, was a framework entirely covered
with asparagus fern. The cab and motor of the
truck were covered with white cheesecloth and
sprayed with fern. On each of the four
corners of the body of the truck was placed an
urn with clusters of gladioli. Approximately
1,000 carnations, 3,000 feet of fern and 200 glad-
iola were used. The fact that the float received
only third prize proved a better advertisement
than had the first prize been awarded to it.

Fortunately the wish was expressed in the pres-

Ambassador Moore was delighted to order a
specially decorated new Columbia Number 240,
the smallest size equipped with the coveted
automatic stop and start. This he did upon
his arrival in America, and as he planned to
take the new Columbia with him when he
sailed there was ample time to have it especially
