Recent trade advices from producers in the
wainut industry indicate a satisfactory condi-
tion for that wood. During the first four months
of this year every walnut mill throughout the
country operated to full capacity on account
of the very large amount of orders received.
Maximum production during these months
held the cost price somewhat in line, and is
probably the only reason that selling prices
did not advance more seriously. The much
higher cost of logs and the heavy demand cer-
tainly justified higher prices than are now pre-
vailing. Many buyers have expressed their sat-
isfaction as to the stability of prices, and with
but few exceptions, all were served promptly.
