Almost Immediate Hit
Publisher Releases Number of New Songs De-
signed Particularly for Easter Programs
The Oliver Dilson Co. has placed in the hands
of the trade several Easter songs. Particularly
important in these new releases are "Then
Easter Day Was Born," the words and music
of which are by Florence Turner-Maley. There
is also a sacred song with music by Geoffrey
O'Hara; text by May Stanley and entitled "He
Maketh All Things New." To the sacred songs
and duets have been added George B. Nevin's
"We Go This Way but Once"; song, "Love's
Threads of Gold," poem by Jean Ingelow, mu-
sic by R. M. Stults; a sacred song, "Let Not
Your Heart Be Troubled," for high and low
voices, and to the collection of Russian songs
has been added Rimsky-Korsakoff's "Song of
the Shepherd." Also in this series are "In the
Tomb," "Slumber Reigns" and "The Pine
Tree." To the Easter anthems have been added
"On the Wings of Living Light," "Christ, the
Lord, Has Risen," and to the anthem of mixed
voices, "The Cross," "Come All Ye That
Labor" and a biblical anthem for minister and
choir, for Easter and general use, "Because I
Live, Ye Shall Live Also."
trations are to be distributed widely. Becker is
the writer of both the words and music. He
is also the publisher and composer of character
sketches for the piano.
Ley and David Number, Published by M. Wit-
mark & Sons, Being Widely Played Through-
out the Country
No really good waltz adequately arranged
and adapted to the requirements of the modern
dance orchestras now ever needs forcing to the
attention of either dealers or public. Conse-
quently, it is no surprise to record the success
of the new waltz recently issued by M. Wit-
mark & Sons. "Roses of Love," by Benton Ley
and Lee David, is a number with a beautiful
theme that always arrests attention. Realizing
the ever-increasing vogue of the waltz, the pub-
lishers of "Roses of Love" have been quick to
seize the opportunity to tie up on an effective
campaign and as a result they are at present
covering the leading orchestras of this country
as well as Canada with a special Katzman ar-
rangement of "Roses of Love" and have cou-
pled this waltz with a backing of Arthur A.
Penn's well-known ballad success "Sunrise and
You," which is one of the best sellers in the
famous Witmark Black and White Series. Un-
doubtedly this waltz coupling will find favor
with leaders.
