Avery Hopwood, with acknowledgm e nts to the
Hungarian playwright, Gabriel Dr egely. The
songs are by Percy Graham Paul and E . Ray
Goetz, with music by Paul A. Rubins. It is pro
duced by Charles Frohman, Inc., in association
with E. Ray Goetz, and was written around and
purposely for Irene Bordoni.
The show is exceptionally well received, the
various dramatic critics of the metropolitan
dailies giving it' quite large reviews and inva
riably predicting its success. Miss Bordoni is
supported by a good cast, including Bruce Mc
Rae, William Elville, Stanley Logan and others.
Among the songs in the show are the "Gon
dola and the Girl," "I Won't Say I Will" (But I
Won't Say I Won't), "So This Is Love" and
"Who'll Buy My Violet." Undoubtedly, "The
Gondola and the Girl" is the hit of the piece, the
other musical offerings coming in for honorable
mention. Alexander Woolcott, of the New
York Herald, in speaking of the former song,
says: "But the high point of 'Little Miss Blue
beard' was none of these. It was the gay, origi
nal, amusing ballad called 'Gondola and the
Girl.' There is a legend in tinpan alley that
the first-nighters don't know a good lyric when
they hear one. Well, this is one." This num
ber is published by Chappell-Harms, Inc. All
the other selections are published by Harms,
Inc.

Jack Yellen and Milton Ager, writers of
"Lovin' Sam," "Louisville Lou," and "Who
Cares':' have written another novelty song of
the colored type which is now being placed in
the programs of many vaudeville artists. Th e
song carries a clever lyric and a Milton Ager
melody, so it can be said it starts out auspi
ciously.
This new offering, whi ch is already heard
along Broadway, is entitled, "Mamma Goes
Where Papa Goes, or P apa Don't Go Out To
night." The professional and sales departments
of Ager, Yellen & Bornstein, Inc., the publishers,
a re quit e enthusiastic over this issue and arc
going to exploit it on a wide scale.

From New England Publishing House
I.eo Feist, Inc., has purchased from the Or ·
pheum Music Co., Boston, Mass ., the New Eng
land song and dance success, "Oh, You Little
Son-uv-er-Gun." This song has proved an active
seller in New England territory and has been
accepted for mechanical recording by most of
the leading talking machine record and musi c
roll manufacturing organizations who, undoubt
edly, were waiting for the purchase of the num
ber by some large publisher so that its merits
could be exploited on a wide scale and through
out the country.
