A gathering of music publishers and a num-
ber of members from recording staffs of player
roll and talking machine record companies had
a "get-together" beefsteak dinner on Thursday
evening of last week. The affair was well at-
tended and besides an elaborate dinner some
unusual entertainment was programmed. Jack
Bliss, vice-president of the United States Music
Co., acted as master of ceremonies, ably assisted
by H. Emerson Yorke, of M. Witmark & Sons.

fox-trot publication entitled "Ophelia." The
number is by Bartley Costello, George McCon-
nell and Charles D. Kerr. It will be featured
as a Summer song.

House to Follow Policies Laid Down by Found-
er Who Recently Died—Many Popular Num-
bers in Firm's Catalog at Present
The A. J. Stasny Music Co., following the
death of the head of that firm, which was re-
ported in these columns some time ago, an-
nounces that the publishing business along the
lines inaugurated by Mr. Stasny will be con-
tinued. The catalog has several standard num-
bers that are most active and, in addition, a
scries of popular songs are having good sales.
These latter include "Panama Twilight" and
"Sunkist Rose," which are particularly popular,
the former number receiving particular favor as
a waltz. "Sunkist Rose" is successful in both
song and dance form. Among other popular
numbers in the Stasny catalog which will be
featured during the present season are "Lonely
Hawaii," "My Miami Mammy," "Mid-Summer
Night's Blues," "Butterfingers" and "I'm Call-
ing You."
HAVILAND EXPLOITS "THE FLIRT"
"The Flirt," formerly published by Joe Mit-
tcnthal, Inc., written by Victor Nurnberg and
Milt Hagen, will be exploited by Haviland &
Co., who have been appointed selling agents.
"The Flirt" was written for the motion picture
of the same name and is being exploited in con-
junction with the exhibition of that photoplay
throughout the country.
