His reason for selecting the Ampico is given in the following letter:
"For a number of years, I have been keenly in-
terested in the possibilities of the Reproducing
Piano I believe I have heard them all, not once,
but many times, but until I heard the Ampico,
I never found one that I thought adequately
reproduced the artist's playing.
The Ampico astonished me, for it reproduces
the artist with unbelieveable fidelity. It not
merely reproduces his phrasing and nuances, but
it holds you as if the artist himself were
playing, so vividly are the personality and spirit
of his playing mirrrored.
It is for this reason that I have decided to record
my playing for the Ampico exclusively.
