held at the Ampico Studios, 437 Fifth avenue,
New York, on Tuesday afternoon of this week.
"The valve unit that made the player famous"
It was one of the first affairs of the sort held at
the Studios, and admission was by invitation,
many of the elite of the city taking advantage of
the opportunity to hear the several prominent
artists and the Ampico.
The featured artists were Miss Inez Wilson,
soprano; Miss Elinor Whittemore, violiniste, and
Juan Reyes, pianist, with Miss Miriam Allan and
Miss Wiswell appearing as accompanists for cer-
tain numbers and the Ampico appearing in the
role of accompanist for others.
A particularly interesting selection was the
singing of the Bach-Gounod "Ave Maria" by

Reyes, who has recorded a number of selections
for the Ampico, after playing a paraphrase on
"Eugen Oneguine," sat idly by while the Ampico
repeated his own recording of that number.
Despite the fact that it had rained most of the
afternoon, when the hour of the recital, four

with an audience that did not hesitate to give
evidence of its enthusiasm not only regarding
the playing of the living artists but of the won-
derful reproducing qualities of the Ampico.

they invite comparison by their trade.
Their one main reason for de-
ciding is that Stafifnote rolls are the
most complete, in that, all that is
pertaining to music, is printed on the
roll and are therefore a greater value
for the money. Another reason is
that they are easier to read and have
an outstanding individuality in the

is not to be found in other rolls.
The opinion is unanimous among
