Up and
Whistle" (Fisher) is having a big sale at the
sheet music department of the McDougal music
store, according to Octavia Stone, manager of
the department.
Nat Vincent, the composer, was in Portland
last week, singing at the Hippodrome Theatre,
where he featured his new song, and he made a
big hit to capacity houses at every perform-
ance.
Miss Stone is a member of the "50-50 Club," an
organization of business women, only one mem-
ber being allowed from any one branch of busi-
ness, and who meet once a week to discuss the
methods used in their line of business. At a
luncheon last week Miss Stone addressed the
club, using as her subject "The Lure of Music."
She furnished the music for the occasion, using
a Grafonola for the purpose, and also demon-
strated several songs with a small portable ma-
chine, which she had at her plate.
The musical comedy "Irene" appeared last
week at the Heilig 1 heatre, where it played to
capacity houses. All of the sheet music man-
agers say that as a result there has been a
big sale of the music of the show. All are
having large sales of "Alice Blue Gown" and
"The Last Part of Every Party."

"FLOR=I=DAD=DA" IS POPULAR
"Flor-i-clad-da," released some time ago by
Sam B. Lewis & Co., 244 West Forty-sixth
street, New York City, has shown some indica-
tions of attaining wide popularity during the
coming months. It is now being used by over
thirty vaudeville acts and some of the talking
machine record and player roll manufacturing
organizations have booked it for early release.
The number is by Saul Wolf and E. Manny
Akst.
WORKING ON MUSICAL COMEDY
Sid Caine, writer of "Mazie," and Jack Calla-
han, the well-known cartoonist connected with
the New York Evening Journal, creator of the
"Hon and Dearie" series, are collaborating on a
new musical comedy, which is booked for early
rehearsal. Jimmy McHugh, manager of the
professional department of Jack Mills, Inc.,
will write the score.
