REVIEW
The Welte-Mignon

"The greatest asset in the field
of musical development"
The Welte-Mignon Library consists of over 3,000 of the
best compositions known in music.
These compositions have been interpreted and recorded
for the Welte-Mignon by artists from all over the globe, dur-
ing the past twenty years. Upwards of 250 artists have done
the recording, 156 of whom have international reputations
for being the foremost pianists of this generation.
Many of the best known musical works of Chopin, Schu-
bert, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Liszt, have been recorded
by from two to six artists, thus affording an invaluable means
for comparative study of the methods and interpretation of
different pianists.
The Welte-Mignon Library was originally cut for the
Welte-Mignon, when it employed a roll 12| inches wide con-
taining eight holes to the inch. To modernize it to one of a
standard-sized roll, of nine-to-the-inch scale, we are now
engaged in recutting this great Library, scientifically reducing
these interpreted compositions from the original master rolls,
besides adding a number of rolls per month of popular and
standard works, as interpreted by leading American pianists;
and it is this invaluable Library the Welte - Mignon (Licensee)
dealer has back of him in support of his reproducing piano
activities.
An idea of the value of this great collection may be
gained when it is pointed out that it is estimated that the
modernization of the Welte-Mignon Library to the standard
nine-to-the-inch scale,when completed,wUl alone cost $400,000.
