AH OPEtf LETTER TO
THE MUSIC DEALERS OF AMERICA
Frequently in the past few years, and especially so during the past
few months, we have received numerous requests from Music Dealers
and others to state the position of Leo. Feis.t Inc. with reference
to the various rumors regarding the formation of a chain of retail
stores for the selling of sheet music etc., that we have decided to
openly express ourselves on this subject as follows:
1st. Leo. Feist Inc. is not in any way interested
in any of the various schemes that are being talked
about with reference to forming a chain of retail
stores for the sale of sheet music and kindred lines.
In fact, we have repeatedly refused to even diseuss
the matter when the subject has "been "broached to us.
2nd. It is our firm belief that in most cities there
are already a sufficient number of places at which
sheet music may be purchased without requiring any
additional outlets, and therefore, we are trying to
create the biggest possible demand for our publications
so that the dealer who handles "Feist" prints will see
their business and profits constantly increasing, which
we trust will be an incentive for them to take an even
more active interest in their Music Departments, there-
by increasing our business, because it is a well proven
fact that the sales of the Music Department increase
with the attention given to the Department, and the
more sheet music sold, the greater are the sales possi- f
bllities of records and rolls as well as pianos, player
pianos, talking machines etc.,
In closing we wish to thank our friends, the Music Dealers, for their
loyal support, and to assure them that we have no intention of becom-
ing their competitors in the sale of musio at retail.
Very truly yours,
LEO.
