Tells Why His House Has Discontinued Pro-
fessional Offices as Matter of Policy
F. J. A. Forster, head of Forstcr, Music Pub-
lisher, Inc., Chicago, has forwarded an announce-
ment to the trade denying rumors that have been
circulated to the effect that he plans to d.scon-
timie professional work.
"Malicious rumors have been spread broad-
cast that I intend to discontinue professional
work," said Mr. Forster in a statement on the
subject. "Nothing could be further from the
truth. I closed my professional office because
I have no faith in the prevailing indiscriminate
methods of "professional plugging,' as it is called,
which I believe are injurious to the music busi-
ness and do not serve the best interests of the

to foist songs upon performers to whom they are

the practice of songwriters in developing sweet

A. A. HAUSER WITH CARL FISCHER
Arthur A. Hauser, who for a number of years
was a member of the staff of G. Schirmer, Inc.,
severed his connections with that organization
and has been appointed traveling representative
for Carl Fischer. Mr. Hauser is now arranging
plans for a sales trip in the interest of the
Fischer catalog.
SELLING "EDITION BEAUTIFUL"
C. C. Church & Co., of Hartford, Conn., the
well-known publishers of "Edition Beautiful,"
report that many new dealers have recently been
added to the list of those handling the standard
numbers. The Church organization also reports
that there evidently is no slump regarding the
demand where standard numbers are concerned.
