BUYS SONG OVER THE TELEPHONE
Louis Bernstein Hears "I Am Coming Back to
You, Maybe," Over the Wire from Pacific
Coast, and Is Quick to Close Deal for It
Before a gathering of local newspaper, Asso-
ciated Press and trade paper men on Thursday
twenty minutes negotiations for the publishing
of this new song were consummated.
The song is entitled, "I Am Coming Back to
You, Maybe." It is from the pens of Ted Lewis
and Ernest Golden and, from all reports, there
is already a very heavy demand for this num-
ber on the Pacific Coast.
This is a most original and unique manner
of hearing and purchasing a song, and while at
first hand it might look like press agent pub-
licity the facts in the case denote otherwise,
inasmuch as the Lewis organization is now
playing with the "Greenwich Village Follies."
touring the Pacific Coast, and taking into con-
sideration the quick publicity of the number, all
those interested decided that immediate ac-
tion was necessary.
NEW OFFICES FOR JACK MILLS, INC.
Jack Mills, Inc., has established new branch
offices in San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.
Johnnie Heinzman is in charge of the San Fran-
cisco office with headquarters at the Continental
Hotel, that city. Mort Green will represent the
Mills interests in Chicago and Jack Levinson
has charge of the Boston office. An immediate
campaign will be made on a national scale to
exploit the Jack Mills numbers "Mazie," "I Lost
My Heart to You" and "Sweet Mamma (Papa's
Getting Mad.)"
"HhYO" FOR "FASHION PLATE"
Karyl Norman Featuring That Number on His
Present Vaudeville Tour
Karyl Norman, otherwise known as the "Cre-
ole Fashion Plate," who is booked for many
weeks with the Keith circuit and who is now on
tour after an extended engagement in the met-
ropolitan district, arranged, before his departure,
to include and feature the Oriental ballad
"Hi-yo" in his program. Some time ago he be-
came interested in this song and immediately
ordered a special costume for his rendition of
it.
The Edward B. Marks Music Co. is the sole
distributor of "Hi-yo" and "Moon Beams,"
both of which are new publications from the
catalog of Goodman & Rose, Inc. It is stated
that in taking over the sole selling rights of
this number the Edward B. Marks Music Co.
guaranteed one of the largest sums of money
on record for two published songs.
NEW SONGS BY MARION BAUER
G. Schirmer, Inc., New York, has just issued
two new songs by Marion Bauer, the clever
American composer, both of which promise to
fill a place in the programs of real artists who
are sincere in their desire to sing American
songs of this character. "Roses that Breathe
in
the Night" is a setting of a poem by Marga-
