15c INTRODUCTORY 15c
The early success of "Na-Jo," an Indian song
recently added to the catalog of the Sam Fox
Publishing Co., would indicate that this sort of
number is to have some popularity, particularly
when one considers that the songs of the Orien-
tal type are quite passe.
In describing "Na-Jo" it is said that it is a
creation of an unusual type, inasmuch as the
theme of the refrain is conceived of practically
only four notes, forming a very simple but
magnetic melody.
"Na-Jo" is the collaborative work of George
O'Neil, to whom the lyrics are credited, and
Rudy Wiedoeft and Walter Holliday, who have
composed the melody. Wiedoeft, who origi-
nated and conceived the composition, found his
inspiration amid the beautiful and inspiring
scenes of Lake Tahoe, on the border of Nevada
and California, a world-famous beauty spot.
It is predicted that the song "Na-Jo" will soon
be more famous than the world-renowned site
of its inspiration.

At Least a Pittsburgh Newspaper Credits Him
With Making Such a Statement
The shimmering strains and discordant notes
of "jazz" are typical of American enthusiasm,
Ignace Paderewski believes, and, in an interview
with a Pittsburgh newspaper, he said he liked it.
"There is no music with more strength, vital-
ity and verve than American popular music,"
he said. "It can be distinguished anywhere
because of these characteristics."
SOCIETY TO PRESERVE BALLADS
An effort to preserve old English and Scotch
ballads, handed down by people of the moun-
tains, is being made by the North Carolina
Ballad Society.
This organization was recently formed at
Asheville. One of its leaders is Dr. Alphonso
Smith, United States Military Academy.
During the meeting at which the society was
formed, Mrs. Jane Gentry, Hot Springs, Col.,

PUBLISH "THAT DREAMY WALTZ"
Waterson, Berlin & Snyder are the publishers
of a new number entitled "That Dreamy
Waltz," the words of which are by Joseph H.
Sumners, the music by Frank Panella. The
number has already been recorded on the
Q R S, Melodee and Pianostyle rolls. The
Q R S Co, makes a special • feature of this
number.
The Sovereign Pub. Co., 160 Sycamore street,
Buffalo, X. Y., has purchased from Frank Wil-
kensen a new song, entitled "Mother, I Am
Coming Home." Mr. Wilkenson wrote the
words of this number and the music is by John
Wesley Newton.
