NEW NUMBER IN STASNY CATALOG
Boosey & Co. Give Shortage as Reason for
Eliminating Recent New Issues
'In the Heart of Mary Ann" Latest Addition to
Stasny List—Some Vaudeville Hits
Boosey & Co. recently forwarded to the trade
and the profession an explanation as to their
elimination of new issues during the past few
months. The company, like many others, have
felt the acute paper shortage, and in order to
relieve the situation somewhat decided to dis-
pense temporarily with their subscription list.
However, the situation is much improved, and
within a very short period it is expected that
normal conditions will prevail. Despite the
many obstacles, Boosey & Co. have been able
to supply the trade with a sufficient quantity of
their success, "The Barefoot Trail," and have
published in professional and sheet music form
their new ballad, "Hush-A-Bye, Baby Mine."
The song "Why Do They Always Say No,"
published by the A. J. Stasny Music Co., is a
novelty number that is quite a favorite with
vaudeville singers. Many of the singing stars
for the high-class vaudeville circuits are featur-
ing this work and it promises to become a valu-
able addition to the popular catalog of the above
house. This song, together with "My Family's
Gone Jazz Mad," is receiving much attention
from the professional department of the firm.
A new number has just been added to the high-
class catalog of the A. J. Stasny Co. It is
entitled "In the Heart of Mary Ann" and is
writte'n by Moe Thompson, Elmer Olson and
Will J. Ward.
PUBLISHERS OUT FOR HARDING
BERLIN ACCEPTS NEW SONG
The Music Publishers' Protective Association
took an active part in the big business men's
parade held on Thursday of this week. This
action was taken following a special meet-
ing of the board of governors of the above body,
at which time it was decided to follow the Hard-
ing standard.
Irving Berlin, Inc., has just accepted for pub-
lication a new song by Grant Clarke and Walter
Donaldson, entitled "I Wish I'd Been Born in
Borneo." Although the number has just been
issued, it has already been placed in three
musical shows. Eddie Cantor is featuring it in
"Broadway Brevities," now playing at the Win-
ter Garden, New York; Frank Crummit renders
it in the "Greenwich Village Follies of 1920,"
and Lew Holtz is using the number successfully
in George White's "Scandals." In addition it
is heard frequently in vaudeville, featured by
Emma Carus and others.
"Broadway Brevities" is using another Irving
Berlin number entitled "Beautiful Faces Need
Beautiful Clothes."
