Some time ago there 'appeared in these col-
umns an article' in which the popularity of
American compositions in European capitals
was commented upon. A description of Ameri-
can publishers' successes in those territories
appeared, and the recognition American works
were having in general. It was shown that
American publications had taken a position
which bids fair to make them active and suc^
cessful competitors against European composi-
tions for sales on the other side.
Since the appearance of the article in ques-
tion there has come into our hands a dance
program of the Astor House Hotel, Shanghai,
China. The numbers appearing in the program
include four from the catalog of Leo Feist, Inc.,
one from Fred Fisher, Inc., one from the Arthur
Fifer Music Publishing Co., one from the Broad-
w.ay Music Corp. and others. The numbers
listed include: "Ching-a-Ling's Jazz Bazaar,"
"Honolulu Eyes," "When the Sun Goes Down
in Cairo Town," "When My Baby Smiles at
Me," "Orange Blossom Rag," "Hush-a-Bye
Land," "Pals" and! "Oh, by Jingo."

PREPARE NEW DISPLAY MATERIAL
Hinds, Hayden & Eldrid'ge, the well-known
New York publishers, who during the past few
months have been running a publicity campaign
on several of their numbers, including "When
Your Ship Comes In" and "In the Afterglow,"
have just issued some special display material
which, though it is produced for the sheet music
trade, proves very effective material for talking
machine dealers. With this in mind, the above
publishers have announced to the trade, particu-
larly to Victor dealers, that they will gladly fur-
nish such material gratis.
