MISS BRIDGES FEATURED
NEW KORTLANDER NUMBER
BERLIN SONGS IN DEMAND
Feist Writer Receives Some Excellent Publicity
on the Coast
"Any Time, Any Day, Anywhere" to Be Fea-
tured Strongly by Richmond the Publisher
Several Numbers from Catalog of Irving Berlin,
Inc., in the Hit Class
Ethel Bridges, the well-known composer, re-
cently received some unusual publicity in the
columns of the San Francisco Examiner. A
two-column reproduction of a photograph of
Miss Bridges sitting at her piano appeared in
the article, which told of her musical activities.
The story was very timely, inasmuch as Miss
Bridges has a song which is considered at pres-
ent a national success entitled "Just Like a
Rose." She is also the writer of "The Hawaiian
Lullaby" and "Ching-A-Ling's Jazz Bazaar."
Leo Feist, Inc., publish the above numbers.
Richmond the Publisher has procured Max
Kortlander's new song, "Any Time, Any Day,
Anywhere." Mr. Kortlander, by the way, is the
writer of the success "Tell Me," and it is un-
derstood that there were a number of publish-
ers in the market for his latest work. A story
has just come to light that prior to the Rich-
mond concern orig-inally taking over "Tell Me"
a competing publisher had the number for sev-
eral months and evidently could not see any pos-
sibilities in it.
"Any Time, Any Day, Anywhere" has already
been recorded on the Q R S rolls and from
reports the sales are quite large, rivaling the
early distribution of this writer's former num-
ber. Copies of this new song will be on sale late
this week, and the publishers will immediately
inaugurate a big sales campaign described as
one of the largest in the history of the trade.
The catalog of Trying Berlin, Inc., which has
constantly shown activity since this new firrn
was organized last year, still holds a number
of songs in the class of best sellers. These in-r
elude "I'll See You in C-U-B-A," "My Sahara
Rose," "Was There Ever a Pal Like You?" and
"The Crocodile."
"Ed. Wynn's Carnival," now playing New-
York, is featuring "My Sahara Rose," "In the
Land of Old Black Joe," "Rather Than See You
Once in a While, I'd Rather Not See You at
All," all Berlin songs. In addition the firm will
shortly release "Tired of Me" and a new Irving
Berlin number, "After You Get What You
Want You Don't Want It."
USING HINDS, HAYDEN NUMBER
Grace Nelson, the well-known concert and
vaudeville star, is singing with great success the
Hinds, Hayden & Eldridge, Inc., ballad, "When
Your Ship Comes In." Last week she appeared
at B. F. Keith's Palace Theatre, New York, and
the number received a big reception. It ap-
peared to be one of the most popular in the
above magnetic singer's repertoire.
