: INDIANAPOLIS, IND., April 24.—Lesley's Chemical
Co., manufacturers of piano and patching
varnish in this city, have appointed P. B. Long
representative for their company on the Pacific
Coast, with Portland, Ore., as headquarters. Mr.
Long is familiar with the problems of the trade
from the dealers' standpoint, having been con-
nected with The Pathe Shop in this city for a
number of years. Lesley's Chemical Co. have
recently mailed to the trade a large descriptive
sheet including current price list of their various
products which has brought large returns.
Exports of manufactures from the United
Slates are apparently double in quantity those
of the year before the war. The figures show
the total value of all manufactures exported is
three and one-half times as big as those of the
year prior to the war. According to a report by
the National City Bank it was known that
prices of all manufactures had greatly increased,
and that it is now possible by a careful com-
pilation to determine whether or not the in-
crease in values is due in any considerable de-
gree to increased quantities, and this careful
compilation shows* that, beyond peradventure,
there has been a very large, in many cases a
startlingly large, increase in the quantities of
American manufactures sent in the year fol-
lowing the close of the war to other parts of
the world when compared with previous years.
KASTON, PA., April 26.— II. Lehr & Co., piano
manufacturers of this city, have exerted every
energy in overcoming the restrictions imposed
upon them by the existing railroad strike. Ar-
rangements were made to deliver to Bethlehem,
Allentown, Reading, Harrisburg and other dis-
tant centers in Pennsylvania, and points in New
Jersey as well by truck. In addition to this
service on the part of the manufacturers, a large
number of dealers have called at the Lehr fac-
tory with their own trucks to secure the neces-
sary pianos.
Production at the factory is proceeding at
capacity, which now represents an increase of
10 per cent since the first of the year. Orders
continue to be received in large quantities and
the present outlook for the future is exceedingly
bright.

cost between $50,000 and $75,000 and will include
a brick kiln building, forty-four by eighty-one
feet, a one-story wooden building and a forty
by sixty wooden shed.
HEED OUR ADVICE
Why waste your time and go to the
expense of scraping off old varnish and
shellac?
Use Behlen's Varnish Crack Eradica-
tor instead.
Once tried it is always used, because
it always gives satisfactory results.

The new bridle strap which has been recently
added to the line of George W. Braunsdorf, Inc.,
New York, is made of bushing cloth rather
than punching cloth, as previously mentioned.
George W. Braunsdorf, president of the com-
pany, reports that the popularity of the new
bridle strap is increasing daily in large propor-
tions.
