LIST SEVERAL NEW SONGS
The Song and Dance Triumph of the Country
Dennis B. Owens, Jr. Co., Inc., Planning to
Exploit Catalog in a Big Way
Farrell and Sizemore, writers of "Jail House
Blues," ha.ve placed the following numbers with
the Dennis B. Owens, Jr. Co., Inc., Kansas City,
Mo.: "I've Got the Blues for the Swanee
Shore," "I'll Never Tell" and "I'm Tired of
Looking for Sunshine." It is understood these
writers have signed up for a period of years
with the above house.
In addition, the same firm have accepted from
Prof. Geo. W. Beever, of the Cincinnati Con-
servatory of Music, an instrumental one-step
entitled "Texas Teaser," and Edward P. Favor,
writer of "L'Admiration" waltzes, has placed
"Valley of Visions," a new waltz, with them.
The Dennis B. Owens, Jr., Co., Inc., are, it is
understood, planning a big advertising cam-
paign to popularize their numbers. They have
over twenty songs in their catalog at the pres-
ent time. Len Fleming, the vice-president of
the firm, will shortly open up offices in New
York City. They also make the announcement
that "I Hear the Ozark Mountains Calling Me,"
which was formerly published by White-New-
ton Pub. Co. of Omaha, Neb., has been turned
over to their company.
COMPOSER OF CHILDREN'S PIECES
There is a dearth of simple yet interesting
melodies for young children studying piano who
are unable to stretch their fingers an octave. A
Milwaukee composer is helping to fill this need.
He is Carl F. Mueller, musical director at Grand
Avenue Congregational Church. Four of his
piano pieces wTiich have no octaves have so far
been placed on the market—"Valsette," "In
Happy Mood," "Boating" and "Mosquito
Dance."
Among his more imposing numbers are "A
Sabbath Reverie," "Dance of the Woodland
Nymphs" and "Dawn at Whitefish Bay."

"THE ICICLE" A TIMELY SONG
CLOSES CONTRACT WITH UNIVERSAL
Harold Flammer, Inc., well-known music pub-
lishers of New York, recently received a letter
from Marie Sidenius Zendt, the well-known so-
prano of Chicago, in which she states: "It is
with great pleasure that I write to tell you how
much everybody enjoyed hearing 'The Icicle'
by Karolyn Wells Bassett. It won the audi-
ence every time. I sang it on every program I
gave on the Coast, and the papers spoke of it
in each place I appeared. It happened that in
Seattle they were having their first cold snap,
never in. the history of people living there
twenty years had they icicles hanging around
as they did the night I sang, so it received an
ovation."
Prominent Film Concern to Make and Dis-
tribute "Vaudographs" for B. D. Nice & Co.
Harry Von Tilzer is the publisher of a new
song entitled, "All The Boys Love Mary." He
is planning a big campaign on the number in
both professional and trade circles.
B. D. Nice & Co., the well-known New York
publishing house and sole owners of "Vaudo-
graphs," a patented motion picture used for the
exploitation of musical works, recently closed
negotiations with the Universal Film Mfg. Co.,
who in the future will make and distribute their
picture productions. The above firm has al-
ready made a new reel of the first release of
"Vaudographs," and although the original pic-
ture was quite a success the new improved reel
will, no doubt, be more popular. All future re-
leases will be on an elaborate scale and the
Universal Co. is in a position to give them
nation-wide distribution.
"Vaudographs" has created a demand for B.
D. Nice publications far above the original ex-
pectations of its inventor, Benjamin J. Levy.
